These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Fahren, an environmental monitoring hardware and software service operated by Kevin Ouellette ("Fahren", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms.
Fahren provides WiFi-connected temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure sensors, along with a mobile app and web dashboard for viewing sensor data, configuring alarms, and generating reports. Sensor hardware is sold separately. Cloud monitoring is included at no charge for up to four sensors, with no subscription required. Paid plans add capacity, longer history retention, and additional alert channels.
You must create an account to use the service. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and notify us of any unauthorized access.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.
The free plan does not expire and never requires payment. It covers up to four sensors with 30 days of viewable history. Paid plans are optional and add sensor capacity, two years of viewable history, SMS and phone-call alerting, sensor sharing, and exportable reports. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe and auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months or unused time.
If a payment fails, nothing stops immediately. Your monitoring continues unchanged while the payment is retried, which typically takes two to three weeks. If a subscription ultimately lapses or you cancel, your account returns to the free plan — it is not suspended, closed, or locked, and you keep access to your account and your data.
Sensors beyond your plan's limit. If you have more sensors than your plan covers, you choose which are covered. Sensors beyond that limit continue to operate and record data, and continue to alert you for 30 days. After that period we stop sending alerts for those sensors until your plan is upgraded. They keep recording throughout, and no data is deleted. Covered sensors are unaffected.
We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days notice to existing subscribers.

Fahren sensor hardware is sold "as-is" with a limited 90-day warranty against manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, tampering, water damage, or use outside the documented operating conditions. Sensors are designed for indoor use unless otherwise specified.
Firmware updates may be pushed automatically to keep sensors secure and functional. You consent to these updates by using the service.
Our data practices are described in our Privacy Policy. You own your sensor data. We retain it only to provide the service and will delete it when you delete your account. You are responsible for the accuracy of any information you input (sensor names, thresholds, share groups, etc).
The alarm system is provided as a convenience. Notifications depend on your WiFi, cellular network, push notification services, and our servers being operational. You should not rely on Fahren alarms as the sole means of monitoring critical environments. We recommend having redundant monitoring for applications where a sensor failure could cause significant harm or loss.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared, sold, or rented to any third parties at any time.
When you opt in, consent is given directly to Fahren and to no one else. Your consent is not collected by, on behalf of, or shared with any third party or affiliate.
By opting in, you consent to receive sensor alarm notifications via SMS. Opt-in is available in the Fahren mobile app under Settings > Notifications > Enable SMS Alerts, where the toggle is off by default and a consent dialog must be accepted. Message frequency varies based on sensor activity, typically 1-10 messages per day. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for assistance.
SMS is entirely optional. Consent is not a condition of service. Full SMS program terms are available at fahrensense.com/sms-terms.
We strive to keep the service available 24/7 but do not guarantee uptime. Scheduled maintenance, infrastructure failures, or network issues may cause temporary outages. We are not liable for losses resulting from service downtime.
Fahren, the Fahren logo, the mobile app, the web dashboard, and the sensor firmware are our intellectual property. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them solely for the purpose of operating your own sensors in accordance with these Terms.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAHREN'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, PROFITS, OR SPOILED INVENTORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms. Non-payment does not terminate your account — a lapsed or cancelled subscription simply returns you to the free plan.
If you close your account, your sensors are deactivated but remain registered to you, and your recorded data is retained according to our normal retention policy rather than being erased immediately. You can request permanent deletion of your history at any time; that action is irreversible and requires explicit confirmation.
We may update these Terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
