Privacy Policy

Fahren ("we", "us", "our") provides environmental monitoring hardware and software services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Fahren, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Name
• Email address
• Password (stored only as a salted bcrypt hash)
• Optional billing information, processed by Stripe (we do not store card numbers)

Sensor Data

• Environmental readings (temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, probe temperature)
• Sensor metadata (name, location label, hardware ID, firmware version)
• Connection telemetry (WiFi signal strength, battery voltage, reporting interval)
• Alarm events and acknowledgements

Phone Number

• Mobile phone number (if you opt in to SMS alarm notifications)

Device Information

• Push notification tokens (Firebase / APNs) used to deliver alerts
• Mobile app platform and version (for OTA updates and crash analytics)

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data beyond the specific features that require it (such as scanning a QR code).
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not sell personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the Fahren monitoring service (displaying readings, sending alarms, generating reports)
• To deliver push notifications for threshold violations and sensor disconnections
• To send SMS alarm notifications to your phone number (if opted in)
• To communicate with you about service issues, billing, or product updates
• To maintain the security and reliability of the service
• To comply with legal obligations

3. How Your Data Is Stored

Sensor readings and account data are stored on secure servers hosted in the United States. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Sensor readings are stored in a TimescaleDB (PostgreSQL) database with automatic tenant isolation — data from one account is never accessible to another account unless explicitly shared by the account owner.

4. Data Sharing

You can explicitly share sensor data with other Fahren users via "share groups" you create. Only users you invite can see shared sensors, and you can revoke access at any time.

We share data with third parties only in these cases:

• Stripe — payment processing (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy)
• Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service — to deliver push notifications
• Resend — to send transactional email (reports, password resets)
• Twilio — to deliver SMS alarm notifications (subject to Twilio's Privacy Policy)
• Legal requirements — when compelled by valid legal process

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared, sold, or rented to any third parties at any time.

5. SMS Notifications

Fahren may send you SMS text messages if you opt in to SMS alarm notifications by providing your phone number in the app or account settings. Messages include sensor alarm alerts (temperature threshold violations, sensor disconnections, power loss events). Message frequency varies based on sensor activity, typically 1-10 messages per day.

Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages at any time. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

When you opt in, consent is given directly to Fahren and to no one else. Your consent is not collected by, on behalf of, or shared with any third party or affiliate.

Opt-in happens only in the Fahren mobile app under Settings > Notifications > Enable SMS Alerts, where the toggle is off by default and a consent dialog must be accepted. SMS is entirely optional and consent is not a condition of service. You can disable SMS notifications at any time by turning off that toggle, by removing your phone number, by replying STOP to any message, or by contacting us. 6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data at any time through the app or by emailing us
• Correct any inaccurate information
• Delete your account and all associated data — the app has a built-in "Delete Account" option, or email us
• Export your sensor data via PDF reports in the web dashboard
• Opt out of marketing email (we do not send marketing email)

Account deletion is immediate and permanent. All your sensors, readings, alarms, share groups, and personal information are erased from our systems.

7. Children's Privacy

Fahren is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date above.
